Grab your black and white...tonight is the night! Rock the Runway (1620 Savoy) or Bust!

Rock the Runway is the kick-off event to a new partnership between the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute and Little Rock-based non-profit organization Fighting Fancy...and I'm going to be there with bells on! Funds raised from tonight's show will be split evenly between the two and go towards funding patient support services for women battling various forms of cancer.

Easy as 1, 2, 3

The fashionista that she was, my grandmother always said, "No matter how quick you need to leave the house, never leave without mascara." However, that was before the days of tinted moisturizer...something I'm sure she would have considered a necessity. That being said, here's a simple makeup routine for a last minute outing - reach for these three (3) items in  your makeup case: Tinted Moisturizer, Mascara and Gloss...apply and go!

TIP: I have been a fan of Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer for years and prefer it over others. It gives me flawless coverage and has a reasonable price point. However, if you don't happen to have a tinted moisturizer in your makeup kit, it's super easy to make your own! Simply mix a small amount of your everyday foundation with your SPF daily moisturizer until the tint of the mixture blends well with the skin tone of your neck (not your hand). To make future applications easier, mix a larger amount in a small clear jar (such as this one found at The Container Store).     

Be Amazing

It's no secret that I am crazy about chaser tees and tanks. Not only do I love their unique messages, but I love how they are a personal expression without you having to say a word. Another great thing about tees in general, is that they make for quick and easy dressing. But before you reach for your gym shoes and a baseball cap, let me make a suggestion. Try your tee with wedges and a fedora instead. That minor change makes for an instant outfit and confidence booster...it takes you from the look of lazy to the look of amazing without having to try any harder.

Laundry to Envy

After long and intense thought, I have decided to share a little secret with you...my dear fashionistas. 

If you are like me, you have a friend (and you may just be that kind of friend) whose clothes and towels always smell amazing. So amazing, that the scent can nearly outlast an hour of a boot camp workout in the hot Arkansas summer. And though my darling of a friend was kind enough to share her laundry secret, which was really no secret at all, her recipe didn't seem to do the same for me and my wash. As my search continued for the perfect mix of laundry detergents and softners, Downy heard my cries and introduced the NEW Downy Unstopables. I. Am. In. Love! And so are my beloved threads. Not only do my clothes smell incredible, but so does my laundry room!

The Working Girl

I recently had the privilege of styling a beautiful young lady who was starting a new and exciting phase of her life. About to graduate from college, she would soon be starting her career in the financial industry. And though she was full of excitement, she was scared that her love for trendy fashion would have to take a back seat. That is where I came in. My mission: To show this college graduate how to tastefully implement today's trends in the working world. Above is just one of the ten ways I gave Kara's corporate pencil skirt a trendy update. 

In agreement that floral skinnies would have a hard time being accepted in her office, we purchased this beautiful floral blazer as a way to incorporate Kara's love of the current floral trend. We continued on by ignoring the obvious choice of a black tank for layering and embraced Kara's bold style by choosing a beautiful turquoise color from the blazer to work with. Come weekend or cocktail hour, Kara can make a simple switch from pencil skirt to black shorts and be ready for some well-deserved play time!
